I have been here several times in the last few months, and have enjoyed my meal on all occasions. We typically get down here on weekends, which, in Old Town, is a tough time to find parking. Aside from that, the wait goes very quickly and their staff is most friendly.
One thing I love about Mexican food is how quickly it's served! While you are still chowing down on the nachos on the table, they bring your meals out, steaming hot, and set them down for you to drool over : ). Their fajitas and burritos are amazing, as well as quesadillas, and carne asada nachos. I haven't ever had anyone that I took there complain about bad food either : ).
One other negative thing is that it is typically very loud in there, so not necessarily the best place for a quiet dinner.
But, overall, family friendly, good food, good margaritas, and lovely atmosphere!
One thing I've learned about taco shops in San Diego, if they don't look very upscale...then EAT THERE! This place is a great little hole in the wall place on Ingraham street right next to US Bank.
Service is great, although they are almost always busy--due to their amazing food! California burritos and breakfast burritos in the morning will rock your day! Their carne asada nachos are better than any that I have ever tasted before, covered in just the perfect amount of cheesy goodness.
Also, their enchiladas are amazing, in just enough sauce to make them tasty but not mushy.
If you haven't been there, GO! Good food, good service, good prices. But be careful, you may just eat so much your tummy aches later : ).
I have been to this restaurant numerous times, and I have never been disappointed! The location is ideal, with oceanfront seating in half the dining room and ambient lights throughout. They are ALWAYS busy, so the service isn't always the fastest, but they are very friendly and helpful.
You should expect to wait up to an hour and half if you go during their busiest times (weekends, evenings, holidays). They do take reservations, but you have to call well in advance of your requested time.
Regardless, it is WORTH the wait! Every entree, appetizer, or desert that I've ever had there has been fabulous! Their burgers are good, their shrimp is good, salmon is amazing, lobster tacos are great, and on and on.
I would one hundred percent recommend this place! The one downside, aside from the wait, is that it can be horrendous trying to find parking. Best to either drop someone off to put your name in and then find a spot, or else just cough up the 5 bucks for valet. : )
I absolutely love this souplantation!!! It is a great place because you can bring a friend along and use one of their buy one get one free coupons that they always send to your email if you join their loyalty program, which I think is called Club Veg. For less than fifteen dollars for two people, both can get unlimited salad, soup, pasta, and desserts in addition to a beverage. What is even better is the fact that all the employees I have met here have been very helpful, especially the managers who actually work and dont just stand there and boos around employees. I will definitely be here again!
You've earned the Foodie Kudos because you like to eat out. A lot. But best of all, you like to share the best places to go. (And if you need some help working off some of those calories, you can earn the the Buff Kudos, Running Store Kudos or Bike Store Kudos.)
Extraordinary Desserts is one of those places that you need to take your friends to when they visit. This upscale restaurant features beautiful cakes in all sorts of chocolatey and fruitey flavors. They have all the baked goods you are looking for. You can choose to wait it out and dine inside their hip restaurant which has dim lights and a romantic setting. Most people dress up and go just for desserts. Their menu also include light eats, sandwiches, coffee, teas, etc. Many people like to come here at the end of the night, it's the perfect place to end a date. The cakes are all very beautiful to look at it, it's like art that is displayed in the front entrance. I really enjoy the chocolate cake with raspberry puree (it's called something more fancy). Everyone loves coming here to enjoy dessert, it's a must check out for friends that are visiting! The quality and service you get are worth the price!
